On December 12, 2024, the Central Party Secretariat agreed to allow Mr. Bui Van Khanh to retire early.
Not only Hoa Binh Chairman Bui Van Khanh, many leaders have recently applied for early retirement. Most recently, on December 9, 2024, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport for early retirement due to health reasons.
There are many reasons why a person in a high position may ask for early retirement, including health reasons. When you feel that you are not healthy enough and ask for retirement, that is a very good thing. There are also people who feel that they are not capable of handling the job, so they ask for retirement, giving way to someone more capable. Knowing your own strength and retiring is also a noble thing.
Along with those who ask to retire early for health reasons or for their own strength, there are many people who are forced to retire early because of mistakes and shortcomings. When a leader is criticized and reviewed, how can he have the honor and prestige to lead the group? If they are not forced to retire early, these people will only "spoil things" further.
We must immediately abandon the mindset that if we have a high position, we will stay there forever, and must always be ready to leave our position if we are not capable of doing our job or cannot complete our tasks. And if we make mistakes or are disciplined, it is best to resign before being forced to retire.
A leader with courage, honor and self-respect will know how to make the right decisions for the common good. Only those who are greedy for fame and fortune will cling to their positions until they retire or are fired.
There are many "smart" people who avoid doing things so as not to make mistakes. They quietly climb from one position to another, but they do not contribute anything to the common good other than their own interests. These officials should be retired early, making room for those who dare to do things and take responsibility.
Regarding the current streamlining of the apparatus, from central to local agencies, there needs to be cadres who know how to withdraw and make way for capable people.
If we want to have positions for talented people, if we want to have "space" to "attract brainpower" into state agencies, there must be people who proactively ask to retire early.
