On December 16, the Ministry of Transport announced Decision No. 1531/QD-BGTVT (signed on December 13) establishing the Steering Committee for preparations for the exploitation of Long Thanh International Airport (Steering Committee).
Accordingly, the Steering Committee includes the following members:
The head of the committee is the leader of the Ministry of Transport.
Deputy Heads of the Board include: Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Permanent Deputy Head); General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC; representative of the Department of Transport Infrastructure; representative of the Department of Construction Investment Management; representative of the Department of Transport; representative of the Department of Enterprise Management.
Members include: Representatives of the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM); representatives of the Southern Airports Authority.
For members of the Steering Committee: Representative of the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security; representative of the General Department of Customs - Ministry of Finance; representative of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province. Currently, the Ministry of Transport has issued Document No. 13398/BGTVTKCHT dated December 10, 2024 requesting agencies to send members to the Steering Committee, and will add members after the agencies have official opinions.
Secretary of the Steering Committee: Representative of the Department of Transport Infrastructure.
Based on requirements and tasks during operation, the Head of the Steering Committee decides to change or add members of the Steering Committee.
The members of the Steering Committee operate on a part-time basis.
Depending on the requirements and content of the work, the Head of the Steering Committee invites leaders of relevant agencies and units to attend meetings of the Steering Committee.
Functions and tasks of the Steering Committee: To be the focal point for inter-sectoral coordination to resolve issues arising in the preparation for the exploitation of Long Thanh airport.
Preside over, direct, and organize the overall coordination of preparations for the exploitation of Long Thanh airport, including directing the testing of operations and the transfer of operations of Long Thanh International Airport to ensure that when put into operation, operations are unified, synchronous, continuous, and effective.
Handling difficulties and problems between agencies and units in the process of coordinating the implementation of preparations for exploitation of Long Thanh International Airport; directing and urging important issues of preparation for exploitation and transfer of exploitation of Long Thanh International Airport regarding progress, key milestones, ensuring publicity, transparency and responsibility of relevant agencies and units; promptly proposing and recommending competent authorities and the Working Group of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project according to Decision No. 401/QD-TTg dated April 18, 2023 of the Prime Minister to consider and resolve issues beyond their authority.
Working regime and reporting information: The Steering Committee works according to a regime that emphasizes the personal responsibility of the head; The Steering Committee is responsible for reporting to the Minister on the Steering Committee's operations periodically every month and ad hoc at the request of the Minister.
On December 9, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, submitted a request for early retirement. Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh requested the leadership and Party Committee of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to provide written comments on Mr. Dinh Viet Thang's request for early retirement due to health reasons; Mr. Dinh Viet Thang provided documents and records related to the decline in working capacity issued by competent authorities in accordance with regulations.
