Over the years, Vietnam has continuously expanded relations with countries and partners around the world.
To date, the network of comprehensive strategic partners and strategic partners has become the largest ever, covering most major economic, scientific and technological centers in the world. A series of new generation free trade agreements have been signed, opening up a vast space for cooperation. That is a very proud achievement of Vietnamese diplomacy.
However, this achievement needs to be further promoted, as requested by General Secretary and President To Lam at a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese Representative Offices abroad within the framework of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference, held in Hanoi on the afternoon of July 31.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested Heads of Representative Agencies to identify diplomacy serving development as the center, and how to transform relations into substantive development resources.
That requirement can also be seen as a new measure of the effectiveness of foreign affairs work.
It can be said that the mission of diplomacy is to pave the way, connect and build trust between partners. On that basis, cooperation opportunities will have more conditions to transform into the driving force of the country's development.
In the context of increasingly fierce strategic competition between countries, trade barriers, green standards, regulations on origin or technology control are constantly changing, the role of representative agencies abroad becomes increasingly important.
Not only promoting the country's image, ambassadors are also information bridges, contributing to researching, forecasting and early warning of new trends for domestic management agencies and businesses to proactively prepare.
Every timely piece of information about tax policies, technical barriers or investment shift trends can help Vietnam seize opportunities and minimize risks in the integration process.
Another noteworthy point is the requirement to connect the Vietnamese community abroad of General Secretary and President To Lam. In the era of the knowledge economy, national resources are not only in investment capital but also in intellectual capital, technology, networks of experts and entrepreneurs around the globe.
If representative agencies play a good bridging role, these resources will make an important contribution to the process of innovation, digital transformation and the development of strategic technology industries of the country.
However, for diplomacy to truly create value, the efforts of the diplomatic sector alone are not enough. Because an investment opportunity only becomes a reality when ministries, branches and localities join in.
A new market is only effectively exploited when businesses are capable of meeting international standards. A cooperation initiative only works when it is quickly implemented by a transparent institution and a favorable investment environment...
Diplomacy for development must be the common responsibility of the entire system!
