It is expected that General Secretary and President To Lam will deliver directing speeches at the plenary opening session of the conference.
The opening session of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference was organized in a direct combined online format to provincial and city Party committees directly under the Central Government and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 31, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President To Lam had a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese Representative Offices abroad within the framework of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference.

Speaking at the working session, General Secretary and President To Lam assessed that the 33rd Diplomatic Conference took place in a special context: The first year of comprehensive implementation of the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the country is accelerating the completion of institutions and transforming the growth model.
Therefore, the theme of this Diplomatic Conference "promoting the pioneering role and performing the key and regular tasks of Vietnam's foreign affairs in the new era" can be considered as a working order.
The conference will be an opportunity to deeply grasp the system of Party Resolutions on building, developing and protecting the Fatherland in the new period, thereby creating high unity in awareness as well as directions of action.
The 33rd Diplomatic Conference and the 22nd National Diplomatic Conference took place from August 1st to August 7th in Hanoi. The 33rd Diplomatic Conference had the theme: "Promoting the pioneering role and performing the key and regular tasks of Vietnam's foreign affairs in the new era". The 22nd National Diplomatic Conference had the theme: "Upgrading local foreign affairs work, effectively mobilizing resources to serve development".

The Diplomatic Conference is an important forum of the diplomatic sector, held periodically since 1957.
The 33rd Diplomatic Conference is the first conference held after the success of the 14th National Party Congress, when the country just consolidated the leadership apparatus after the 16th National Assembly election and People's Councils at all levels, creating a foundation for implementing major policies of the new term. This is also the first Diplomatic Conference in the new era of national development that the 14th Party Congress has identified, towards implementing strategic goals to 2030 and vision to 2045.
