On the National Assembly forum, delegates said that such images are "realistic tests" affirming the irreplaceable mission of the press, especially large newspapers with long-standing reputation.
The revised Press Law submitted to the National Assembly today also aims to that goal, meeting urgent requirements, not only to regulate press activities but also to promote the role of mainstream press in orienting information and protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
In the context of society developing strongly on digital technology platforms, information is conveyed at a dizzying speed and is not always accurate. Rosary, bad, toxic information, or fake news spread through social networks, has caused many consequences not only for people but also for authorities, organizations and society, so the mainstream press needs to proactively lead information on cyberspace and if bad, fabricated, bad, and untrue news is discovered, it must be published and refuted promptly.
On the other hand, each press agency itself also needs to equip itself with modern technology tools to support reporters and editors in verifying information sources and checking the accuracy of information before making it public. In which each reporter and journalist must demonstrate their political courage and social responsibility in spreading human values, raising public awareness of important issues in society.
As Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man once emphasized: "The press needs to take the lead in preventing misinformation and protecting the Party's ideological foundation".
The revised Press Law expands the space for press activities, not only to enhance press management capacity but also to help Vietnamese press develop sustainably, humanely and modernly.
In the digital age, mainstream press will have to master technology, create quality press products, protect the Party's ideological foundation, and at the same time build a healthy information environment, helping people access accurate and complete information.
Only then can the press undertake its mission, be strong and confident towards future achievements, and make stronger and deeper contributions to the development of the country.
