With thousands of shelters provided, tens of thousands of people benefiting from nearly 20 years of implementation, the program not only supports the construction or repair of houses for union members in difficult circumstances, but also brings spiritual encouragement, adding motivation to rise up from the very struggling lives.
The most obvious effect can be measured by the spacious houses growing from remote areas to industrial parks, by the happy eyes of workers when receiving the handover of their dream houses. There, the Trade Union organization is not only a financial connector, but also a companion, a "fire-burner" in unfinished shelters.
In 2024, the Trade Union Shelter program has helped 3,157 union members and workers build new and repair with a total support amount of more than 117.5 billion VND. In the first 5 months of 2025, trade unions at all levels supported the construction and repair of 1,097 "Union Shelters" with a total support amount of more than 52 billion VND.
In localities such as Dong Nai, Bac Giang, Quang Nam or Ho Chi Minh City... the program continues to be implemented creatively, combined with socialized resources, policy banks, and accompanying businesses to improve efficiency and expand coverage.
What is valuable is the increasingly methodical approach with transparency criteria, clear procedures, practical support levels and quick implementation time. Without formal showing off, the "Union Shelter" quietly comes into life, rightly emphasizing the core mission of the Union organization: Caring for the legitimate and inherent interests of workers.
In addition to the remarkable results, it is still necessary to frankly acknowledge some shortcomings such as limited fund resources, not meeting actual needs; some places are still confused in coordination, surveys or delays in disbursement. In the context of rising housing prices and rising construction costs, the Trade Union organization needs to continue to innovate forms of mobilization, strengthen socialization, and at the same time recommend policies to supplement resources from the State, businesses and the community.
The "Union Shelter" program is not only a material support but also a beautiful symbol of solidarity and sharing in the working community. From a solid home, workers can work with peace of mind, their children can study fully, and their families can have less daily hardship - thereby, society also benefits from settled and responsible citizens.
Caring for the roof of a house for workers is caring for the foundation of sustainable development of the country. And if we consider the "Union Shelter" as a project, then each brick in it carries the trace of affection, sharing and dedication to union members and workers - something that no unit other than the Union organization can do so well.
