The Ministry of Public Security is expanding the investigation of the criminal case of "Giving bribes and Receiving bribes" that occurred at the Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health and related companies.
In addition to Director Tran Viet Nga, many officials of the Food Safety Department were also prosecuted for the crime of "Receiving bribes".
According to the investigation agency, officers of the Department of Food Safety received bribes to review records and issue Certificates of advertising content for health protection foods.
Formerly a group, from the Director to the subordinates, "joining hands" to receive bribes, the Food Safety Department has helped to cause unsafe food to spill onto the market, threatening the health and lives of consumers.
Nearly a year ago, on September 24, 2024, at the ceremony to hand over the decision to appoint Ms. Tran Viet Nga as Director of the Department of Food Safety, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said: " ... I trust you to continue to promote your full capacity and experience in work, inherit the achievements, unite as a team, strive to excellently complete the assigned tasks for the common development of the health sector".
Solidarity is to carry out the task of caring for and protecting people's health, not to do wrong things, harming people's health.
Director Tran Viet Nga did not "fulfill his tasks excellently" but followed the "trail" of his predecessor, former Director Nguyen Thanh Phong.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong was accused of appropriating more than 60 billion VND from accepting bribes to issue fake food product licenses. In this case, many officials of the Department of Food Safety and other agencies of the Ministry of Health were prosecuted, detained or banned from leaving their place of residence.
It was thought that, after the previous case related to the Food Safety Department, the next leader took that as an example, but unfortunately he did not.
They were not afraid.
The prosecution agencies will clarify the illegal acts of Ms. Tran Viet Nga and related people, how much bribery did they receive, and what were the consequences?
However, regarding the personnel work of the Ministry of Health, it is clear that it is very untrue.
The two directors of the Department of Food Safety, from Nguyen Thanh Phong to Tran Viet Nga, all accepted bribes, not to mention many other officials of the Ministry of Health involved and have been prosecuted.
Appointing leaders of the Food Safety Department as those who receive bribes is clearly very unsafe.
If the Food Safety Department is unsafe, it cannot have food safety on the market.
