Lighting a fire to share with people in the midst of storms and floods

Hoàng Lâm |

Where people need it, I am ready to be present to support." That is the simple, sincere saying of a resident right in the place where the flash flood swept through Muong Than (Lai Chau), showing the spirit of solidarity and sharing is everywhere, especially in places where people are in distress.

That man is Mr. Phan Van Hoan (residing in Muong village, Than Uyen commune), who voluntarily drove his personal tractor into the flood center to support rescue over the past few days.

The Kubota tractor - which is a means of production, a valuable asset to help his family make a living - has become a special "rescue vehicle". Despite unfavorable and harsh weather conditions and the risk of landslides always lurking, Mr. Hoan did not mind the danger, diligently leveling tons of soil and rock, clearing many traffic jams to clear traffic routes. Not only that, his tractor has also become a means of transporting functional forces and helping people overcome deep and fast-flowing water sections, shortening the time to access the scene to deploy search and rescue work in the most timely manner.

Mr. Hoan, along with the people, functional forces and authorities, are making great efforts to rescue and support people. This is very precious. However, the heavy destructive power of natural disasters still needs the joint efforts and sharing from hearts across the country.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Chau province has just issued an open letter calling for the joint support of organizations, businesses and philanthropists. Local functional forces are still straining to search for missing people and provide emergency relief, but it is clear that the need to support the reconstruction of life and restore livelihoods for people in flood-affected areas needs to be implemented right now.

The spirit of national unity, sharing food and clothing to support people in disaster-stricken areas is a beautiful tradition of Vietnamese people for generations and has been clearly shown in recent years.

Sharing does not need to be too great, beyond reach, but depends on the ability and conditions of each individual and organization. A day's salary of an official, a part of the profit of a business, or just a carton of instant noodles, a warm coat, fever-reducing pills from philanthropists... all are invaluable supports to help people in mountainous areas overcome hardship.

Natural disasters are always unpredictable and unpredictable, but surely people in difficult areas are not alone. The support of the State, individuals and organizations in the coming time is both a spiritual support and a material support, igniting faith and strength to help people in flood-stricken areas firmly overcome difficulties to rebuild their lives after storms.
