Playing sports or exercising regularly helps improve health, but if done incorrectly, you can put yourself at risk of serious injury.
Dr. Jonathan Glashow, an Orthopedic surgeon in the Upper East Side (USA), shares 3 things "never should do" to protect bones, joints and the motor system, according to hindustantimes.
1. Never miss strength training
Strength training is not only for those who want to gain muscle. According to Dr. Glashow, this is a foundation for protecting joints from damage.
A strong calf is a protected joint, says Glashow, focusing on exercises like strengthening the shoulder, frontal, glutes, and calves can help prevent common injuries like shoulder disorders, knee pain, or Achilles tendon rupture.
2. Do not wear shoes for sports purposes
A seemingly small mistake has big consequences: wearing the wrong shoes while playing sports. For example, using soccer shoes on artificial turf can increase the risk of frontal diaphragmatic rupture, especially in women.
Choosing the right type of shoe for the court and sport is extremely important, Dr. Glashow emphasized.
3. Not doing the same cardio exercise every day
Repeating a single cardio workout, such as jogging, cycling, or doing high-end machinery, can cause overload injuries.
Running continuously can easily cause aortic pain, cycling can compress the nerves, while the elip can affect the hips.
Combine different forms of exercise to avoid putting pressure on the same muscle group or joint, Glashow advises.
In addition to Dr. Glashow's notes, other experts such as Dr. Rajesh Malhotra (Indraprastha Apollo Hospital) also believe that non-professional athletes need to pay special attention to properly warm up, choose the right outfit and listen to the body to avoid overexertion.
