On May 11, Thien Hanh General Hospital informed that the unit had just treated a 5-year-old girl with acute allergic conjunctivitis due to exposure to chemicals from soap bubble blowing toys.
Previously, at about 10 pm on May 9, baby N.L. P. V (5 years old, residing in Buon Ma Thuot ward, Dak Lak province) was taken to the hospital by her family for emergency treatment in a state of swollen red eyes, pain and continuous tearing.
According to family members, before being hospitalized, baby V played with soap bubbles and unfortunately let the solution fly into her eyes. Only about 10 minutes later, the baby showed symptoms of itching, burning, continuous watery eyes, and both eyelids gradually swollen and red.
Although the family quickly washed the baby's eyes under the tap, the condition did not improve but became increasingly serious, so they immediately took the child to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Through examination, the patient was still conscious but both eyes were swollen, red, painful and conjunctivitis. Fortunately, doctors did not record corneal lesions.
After two days of treatment, the baby's health has stabilized. At noon on May 11, the hospital discharged him, prescribed medicine and scheduled a re-examination. Fortunately, the soapy bubble solution, although the chemical composition has not been clearly identified, has only affected the outside of the eyes, and has not penetrated deeply causing serious damage.
