Eat sweets regardless
Hoai Trang (23 years old, Hanoi) discovered that she was addicted to sugar when she depended too much on sweets. Every time she is tired and stressed, Trang often finds sweets as a way to balance her emotions.
"When I was a student, I drank milk tea, cake, sweet soup every day at school... I couldn't resist the sweetness of the food. During class, if I crave sweets, I will immediately ask the teacher to allow me to go out and buy some fresh water to drink. People often tease me, "Will you ever see me eating like that?" - Trang recounted.
Using sweets regularly but Trang did not gain weight, only accumulating fat in the abdomen and areas of the body that were not firm. When pregnant with her first child, this habit did not change, the cramps combined with sensitive psychology made Trang eat more sweets.
Things became serious when Trang had gestational diabetes, affecting the health of mother and baby. Trang realized that she needed to adjust her diet more reasonably and scientifically. Trang met a nutritionist to get advice on a diet plan. The road closure process is currently very difficult.
Thanh Hoa (21 years old, Vinh Phuc) is overweight due to consuming too much sweets. Hoa herself understands the harmful effects but it is very difficult to stop using them.
When Hoa weighed 70kg, she was determined to give up sweets. Flowers should only eat vegetables and fruits, not starch. However, this perseverance only lasted for a week, like a starved person, Hoa ate more to make up for her diet days. As a result, they could not give up sweets, instead their weight increased even more than the original level.
Harmful to health
Discussing the above issue with Lao Dong, Dr. Le Anh Tuan - Thanh Hoa General Hospital said that consuming too much sugar will cause negative effects on health. In particular, fructose in soft drinks, candy, milk tea... will increase hunger and cravings, leading to weight gain and obesity.
Consuming too much sugar leads to insulin resistance, causing blood sugar levels to increase and increasing the risk of diabetes. In addition, eating a lot of sugary foods for a long time will cause cardiovascular problems such as heart attack, atherosclerosis, liver overload increases the risk of fatty liver disease... The diseases that you have to suffer from will be a bad factor leading to the risk of cancer.
Faced with the harmful effects of using too many sweets, Dr. Tuan advised - need to have a healthy diet, ensuring the body's necessary energy needs.
"We should not suddenly stop using sugar but gradually cut it down. Reduce sweet cravings by gradually adjusting your food with less sugar. Replace candy, soft drinks... with vegetables and fruits with a slightly sweet taste.
Replace sweet drinks with water. An appetite can also be caused by excess acid in the body, so exercising will help blood circulation and reduce cravings for sweets" - Dr. Tuan advised.
