More than 20 years of fire

The Charity Kitchen at Lam Dong Hospital II was established and operated since 2005, currently under the joint management of the Red Cross Society of B'Lao Ward and the hospital.

For more than 20 years, the kitchen has become a familiar address, providing free meals for patients in difficult circumstances being treated at the hospital.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of B'Lao ward said that the hospital treats nearly 600 poor patients per day.

Many people come from remote and isolated areas, families in difficult circumstances, seriously ill or have to undergo long-term treatment. Free meals help them reduce costs and have more motivation during their hospital stay.

The kitchen serves from Monday to Friday every week. Food sources, rice... are mobilized from organizations, individuals, and volunteer groups to support.

Ms. Tran Thi Le Huyen - Head of Thien Nhan Bao Loc Charity Group said that realizing the meaning of the kitchen for poor patients, the group has accompanied many philanthropists to contribute essential goods, contributing to maintaining operations.

Our charity group and many other groups and philanthropists share the support of rice, necessities, fresh food, vegetables, tubers, and fruits. All share the same desire to keep the kitchen always on fire, so that patients and their families in difficult circumstances can reduce their hardship" - Ms. Huyen said.

Ms. Ka Rieng (resident of Cat Tien 2 commune) said that from mid-August to now, her family has had relatives receiving inpatient treatment at the hospital. Thanks to receiving free daily meals, the family has reduced some expenses.

In the morning, they receive porridge, at noon and in the evening, they receive free meals. This support helps my family and many other patient families reduce the burden during the time my loved ones are being treated" - Ms. Ka Rieng said.

Spreading compassionate actions

Not only serving poor patients, the Charity Kitchen also participates in humanitarian activities organized by the Red Cross Society of B'Lao Ward and local departments, branches, and organizations.

From the beginning of 2026 to now, the kitchen has supported 6 cases of deceased people without relatives, people without houses and poor and difficult patients with a total budget of 50 million VND; awarded a scholarship of 5 million VND to a studious orphan student.

The kitchen also participates in the Humanitarian Month, supporting 500 poor households and people in difficult circumstances through the 0-dong booth.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Loan - Head of the Charity Kitchen of Lam Dong Hospital II said that the total value of essential goods, items and funds for charity and humanitarian work of the kitchen from 2024 to date is more than 8 billion VND.

Behind this figure is the joint effort of many individuals, organizations and volunteers. Some contribute food, some support funding, and some directly cook and serve patients.

Doctor Le Van Tien - Director of Lam Dong Hospital II said that the operation of the kitchen is maintained with the coordination of the Red Cross Society, hospitals, authorities and local organizations, ensuring publicity and transparency.

For more than 20 years, the charity kitchen has been burning fiery at Lam Dong Hospital II. Free meals and porridge have contributed to spreading the spirit of mutual affection, adding motivation for poor patients to overcome difficulties.
