11/11 higher education institutions directly under the Ministry have consolidated their heads
In Decision No. 2032/QD-BYT dated July 6, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan appointed Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu - Professor, Doctor, Doctor to hold the position of Rector of Hanoi Medical University for a limited term. The term of office is from the date the decision takes effect until he reaches retirement age as prescribed.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, congratulated Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu on being trusted to continue to be assigned the important responsibility of Rector of Hanoi Medical University for the 2026-2030 term.
This is not only the honor of the comrade personally but also a great responsibility to the Party, State, Ministry of Health, schools and society" - Minister Dao Hong Lan said.
According to the Minister, Hanoi Medical University is the leading medical training institution in Vietnam, with the function of training high-quality medical human resources, scientific research, medical examination and treatment, international cooperation and community service.
The school has received and is planning to develop Central Hospital 71, Central Rehabilitation Nursing Hospital into a reliable practice and medical examination and treatment facility in Thanh Hoa province.
At the same time, continue to expand other facilities such as the Elderly Health and Care Complex at Hoang Mai facility, the Training, Research and Practical Hospital Area in Bac Ninh.
The school has been approved by the Government for a project to develop into a national key school towards becoming a university in the leading group in Asia.
The Minister emphasized that the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health identifies the consolidation of heads of educational institutions under the Ministry of Health as a key task.
The Ministry of Health has issued guiding documents and by the end of June 2026, 11/11 higher education institutions under the Ministry have completed the process of consolidating heads of schools, ensuring progress.
In the next short time, the consolidation of the deputy head of the head will be implemented according to regulations.
Fundamental and comprehensive innovation of the training program
According to Minister Dao Hong Lan, the position of Principal of the school with the newly appointed principal, although still GS. TS. BS Nguyen Huu Tu, received the task with a higher mindset and requirements than in the previous period.
The Minister requested the school to report on the preliminary review of 2 years of implementing Decision 714. According to the Minister, this is one of the top important tasks and how to implement this decision to change the quality of the school's activities in the coming time; quickly have a specific plan to build new facilities of Hanoi Medical University - Bac Ninh, Hoang Mai, Thanh Hoa campuses. Review, consolidate, arrange, and allocate human resources appropriately.
Besides, consolidating the vice principal of the school - assigning school leaders to be scientific because the campus is very large, there is a lot of work, and it is very difficult to have a lot of work in the future.
In terms of expertise, the Minister requested the school to focus on fundamentally and comprehensively innovating the training program towards modernization, capacity integration, and meeting the requirements of the medical examination and treatment practice capacity assessment system.
In addition, build high-quality training programs; proactively expand international cooperation, strengthen academic exchange, training links, research, and technical transfer with universities, research institutes, hospitals and international organizations...

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu is a former student of Hanoi Medical University, course 1984-1990, trained as a resident doctor, PhD at the school and participated in many specialized training programs and research in France and some other countries.
He has held many management positions such as Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Director of the Center for Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Control of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Director of the Hanoi Medical University Branch in Thanh Hoa, Vice Rector and has held the position of Rector from 2021 to present.
