The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) said it had received report No. 609/BC-ATTP from the Food Safety Department of Quang Ngai province regarding cases of hospitalization suspected of food poisoning after using bread at some points of sale in the Hong Van bread chain in the province.

According to initial reports, after using bread, many people showed symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea, some cases had to be hospitalized for monitoring and treatment. Currently, medical facilities are actively monitoring the health developments of patients.

In the face of the above situation, the Food Safety Department has issued a document requesting the Department of Health of Quang Ngai province to urgently and synchronously deploy measures to ensure the safety of the people and clarify the cause of the incident.

The Department of Health is required to direct hospitals with patients undergoing treatment to focus maximum resources, organize emergency care and intensive treatment, ensure the safety of patients' health and lives.

At the same time, functional units need to organize investigations, trace the origin of food, clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food samples and diseases for testing, and clarify the cause.

In case of detecting violations of food safety, the authorities must strictly handle them in accordance with legal regulations, and at the same time publicize the handling results to promptly warn the community.

The Food Safety Department also requires localities to step up prevention work, focusing on propaganda and instructing food service establishments to strictly implement conditions to ensure food safety.

Facilities must strictly control the origin and source of raw materials, ensure hygiene throughout the entire process of processing, processing and transporting food; fully implement three-step food inspection and store food samples according to regulations.

In addition, people are advised to choose safe food and dining facilities, especially when using food services for crowded events, to limit the risk of food poisoning.

The Department of Health of Quang Ngai province is recommended to continue to seriously implement the instructions of the Government and the Ministry of Health on strengthening food poisoning prevention.

Previously, on December 13, Quang Ngai General Hospital and Phuc Hung Private General Hospital received many patients with symptoms of food poisoning, suspected of eating bread purchased at Hong Van bread brand businesses in Nghia Lo and Cam Thanh wards.
