What is whey protein?

Whey protein is one of the main proteins found in dairy products. A by-product of cheese production, whey protein provides a significant amount of all the essential amino acids needed to perform the functions inherent in a high-quality, complete protein in the body.

You can add whey protein to drinks, milk, or other foods, such as yogurt, or blend it with ice and fresh fruit to make a smoothie. It is also very easy to digest, being absorbed from the gut more quickly than other proteins.

Whey protein is a very popular ingredient in the diets of bodybuilders and athletes. Whey protein also addresses health problems related to nutritional deficiencies.
