After opening on December 19, 2025, Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital facility 2 in Ninh Binh have not officially received patients, causing many people in the area and neighboring provinces to be anxious and look forward to it.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoi, 82 years old in Thien Truong ward, Ninh Binh said: I have had breast cancer for many years. Regularly have to go to Hanoi for examination and re-examination. Now that I am old and have leg pain, I only hope to be able to be examined and treated at facility 2 of Bach Mai and Viet Duc hospitals near my house.
I really hope the hospital will soon go into operation to avoid having to go to Hanoi for examination and treatment. However, after the opening, we have not seen the hospital receive patients yet, so we are also worried and hope to have specific information soon," Ms. Hoi said.
After many years of waiting, the Viet Duc Friendship Hospital project facility 2 in Ninh Binh is entering the final completion phase, aiming for the goal of officially welcoming patients at the latest in the first quarter of 2026, contributing to reducing the burden on central-level hospitals and improving access to high-quality medical services for people in the area.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Duc Hung - Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital - said that after opening, the hospital will continue to focus on installing medical equipment, completing the fire prevention and fighting system, treating waste discharge, and organizing internal operation.
In the initial phase, facility 2 is expected to operate at about 30% capacity, equivalent to 300 beds. When the system operates stably, the hospital will gradually expand its scale to better meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Duc Hung informed.
According to the leaders of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, immediately after receiving and handing over, the unit will focus on completing legal procedures, consolidating personnel, building professional procedures and operating mechanisms, ensuring that when put into operation, the quality of medical examination and treatment at facility 2 is equivalent to facility 1 in Hanoi.
Viet Duc Hospital project facility 2 is expected by people in Ninh Binh and neighboring provinces in the context that the main facility in Hanoi has been in a state of overload for many years. Putting facility 2 into operation not only expands the capacity to receive and treat patients but also helps patients access high-quality medical services right in the locality, reducing costs, travel time and pressure to push the tuyen to central hospitals.
Regarding human resources, hospital leaders affirmed that they have proactively recruited and supplemented the training of doctors and nurses from health training schools, and at the same time clearly divided professional lines. Accordingly, facility 1 continues to undertake particularly complex techniques, while facility 2 will deploy appropriate surgeries and treatments, contributing to effective load balancing.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital - said that central hospital facility 2 in Ninh Binh is invested on a large scale, with modern technology. Immediately after being licensed by the Ministry of Health, 325 hospital beds and emergency areas will be operated synchronously, with many advanced equipment such as MRI, CT, DSA and modern testing systems.
Right in phase 1, more than 600 experienced doctors, nurses, and technicians from the Hanoi facility will be mobilized to strengthen Ninh Binh. This is the core force, having participated in treating many difficult and complex cases, ensuring professional quality from the early days of operation.
In addition, specific policies are also issued to support the frontline force, such as ensuring income commensurate with the volume and nature of work, arranging public housing and appropriate preferential regimes, helping health officials feel secure in their long-term work.
According to the Ministry of Health, many infrastructure and technical items of the project have been basically completed; medical equipment is being deployed and installed according to plan, and is expected to be fully completed before April 2026.
