On July 23, Binh Duong General Hospital (Phu Loi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that doctors from the General Surgery Department had successfully treated and saved the life of a man with a punctured heart in critical condition.
The person who was saved was patient P.H.H (30 years old) admitted to the hospital in a state of severe shock, agitation, struggling, drowsiness, and difficulty breathing. Previously, Mr. H had a conflict while drinking and was stabbed with a sharp knife in the chest, the wound went through the sternum, and he was bleeding heavily.
Immediately upon receiving the rescue team quickly established a transmission line, infused, urgently blood, and placed an endotracheal section to support breathing. Super cardiac ultrasound recorded a large amount of cardiac emphysema, a sign of acute cardiac compression - a condition that can cause death if not treated immediately.
Recognizing this as an emergency emergency situation, the patient was immediately transferred to emergency surgery. The surgical team opened the chest and discovered severe damage: the left lung was punctured in both sides, the congestive heart cavity was full of blood, and the heart was beating weakly. In particular, the confins must be punctured, blood must be paid into the drain. Doctors performed intensive resuscitation and suturing of heart and lung wounds, suctioning nearly 2,500ml of blood, controlling blood clotting, and placing a drain.
Currently, the patient is conscious, contacted well and has recovered positively. He is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
According to the assessment, this is an extremely critical case. The patient was taken to the hospital very promptly, if only a few minutes late, he may not have survived.
