Before the 2026-2027 school year, the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Health requests border communes to urgently ensure human resources, facilities and medical equipment at inter-level boarding schools, in order to care for and protect students' health.
Accordingly, 10 border communes with inter-level boarding schools including Thanh Nua, Thanh Yen, Sam Mun, Nua Ngam, Muong Nha, Nam Ke, Sin Thau, Quang Lam, Na Bung and Si Pa Phin must arrange at least 2 medical staff at each school.
Medical staff have the task of monitoring and taking care of students' health and being on duty 24/24 hours to promptly handle arising situations.
In case there is only one new health official, the Commune People's Committee must direct the Health Station to strengthen more personnel, and at the same time urgently recruit or contract additional personnel.
According to Mr. Pham Giang Nam - Director of Dien Bien Provincial Department of Health, the unit requires each school to arrange 2 adjacent medical rooms, including reception rooms, first aid rooms and student monitoring rooms; and duty rooms for medical staff.
Rooms must have hospital beds, medical equipment, emergency medicines, intravenous fluids, boxes of anaphylactic emergency medicines, oxygen and necessary facilities.
In addition, schools must ensure sufficient sinks and soap in the dining area and guide students to clean their hands before eating to prevent diseases from spreading through the digestive tract.
Health Centers are assigned to organize training for school health workers on anaphylactic emergency, circulatory emergency, respiratory emergency, drowning, food poisoning, injuries and the use of medical equipment. The training must be completed before August 28, 2026.
According to the plan, on September 5, Dien Bien will inaugurate and put into use 9 inter-level boarding schools. Along with Si Pa Phin Inter-level Boarding School, which has been operating since January 2026, the whole province will have 10 inter-level boarding schools completed.
