On June 12, Lam Dong General Hospital informed that the unit is treating Mr. L.V.M (residing in Duc Trong district, Lam Dong) suspected of poisoning due to eating wild mushrooms.
Many days ago, Mr. M went into the forest near his house to pick some types of mushrooms to prepare dishes.
After eating, Mr. M showed symptoms of nausea and dizziness, had to go out many times, and had to be hospitalized for emergency care. After treatment, Mr. M's health gradually recovered.
According to Lam Dong General Hospital, since the beginning of the year, the hospital has received a total of 13 people with symptoms of poisoning due to eating wild mushrooms.
Among them, there was one tourist and 12 locals. Notably, out of these 13 patients, 8 people belong to 2 families.
As Lao Dong reported, after the rains, people and tourists went to pine forests in Da Lat city and districts in Lam Dong province to pick mushrooms for food.
Dr. Fungology Truong Binh Nguyen, Faculty of Biology, University of Da Lat, said that during the rainy season, pine mushrooms in Da Lat grow strongly and are often distributed in clusters.
Some types of mushrooms have delicious flavors, eye-catching colors, known as "heaven's lucky money", attracting people and tourists to the forest to harvest and prepare dishes.
Dr. Truong Binh Nguyen recommends that according to published research, there are nearly 300 types of commune fungi under the Da Lat pine canopy, many types of mushrooms are toxic and non-toxic with almost similar shapes.
Therefore, people who pick wild mushrooms need to have knowledge and experience to ensure safety. In particular, do not feel free to taste unverified mushrooms, do not touch venom mushrooms or foreign mushrooms to avoid affecting your health.
