Regarding the armed attack at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, on October 24, Mr. Tang Xuan Hai - Director of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, said that the suspect had a newborn wife and was being treated at the obstetrics department.
Mr. Hai also said that as soon as he arrived at the hospital bed, the subject suddenly assaulted a child lying next to him.
The grandmother rushed to hug the grandchild and was immediately stabbed by this person. Seeing that, medical staff ran to stop them and were also attacked. At times, the subject intended to hug the child and throw him to the ground, but the hospital staff promptly controlled him.
The suspect's identity was identified as Bang Van Vy (born in 1996, from Bac Ninh, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An province). The hospital security force quickly arrived, locked the nursing room tightly, and waited for the police to come to control and arrest them.
The incident injured 7 people, including 4 medical staff including Ms. Tran Thi Hong, Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, Nguyen Thi Nhung; along with 2 patients' relatives and 1 newborn baby. nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang suffered the most serious injuries with 4 deep stabs in her neck and chest.
Immediately afterwards, the victims were transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency care, and are now all out of danger.
The leaders of Nghe An Department of Health directly visited the two hospitals to direct treatment, encourage doctors and nurses to stabilize the medical examination and treatment situation.
