Not enough recovery time and rest
One of the mistakes when exercising in people over 50 years old is not allowing the body to have enough recovery time and rest between training sessions.
The body at a younger age can recover after a high-intensity workout within 24 - 48 hours. Meanwhile, the body over 50 often needs more time to recover, depending on the intensity and type of exercise.
Not enough to start
As we age, proper warm-up becomes important to achieve maximum results when exercising and avoiding injuries. Muscles and joints are susceptible to injury at any age, and this risk increases significantly after age 50.
Poor exercise pace and control
Hurrying to perform movements or failing to maintain proper control throughout the range of motion of the exercise can lead to injury. Motions controlled at an appropriate pace will increase strength and reduce the risk of injury.
Increasing the intensity too quickly
Weight gain too quickly can lead to poor exercise posture and injury.
