On September 23, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Thai Ba Thang - Deputy Director of Nghe An Provincial Social Insurance (BHXH) said that currently there are 81 units in the province that have signed health insurance (BHYT) medical examination and treatment contracts with social insurance agencies.
According to Mr. Thang, through recent working sessions and exchanges with medical examination and treatment facilities, no unit has reported a shortage of medicines and medical supplies to serve health insurance patients.
Up to now, Nghe An Provincial Social Insurance has not received any feedback on the shortage of medicines and medical supplies at health insurance medical examination and treatment facilities in the area" - Mr. Thang said.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of Nghe An Friendship General Hospital also affirmed that the unit currently does not experience a shortage of health insurance drugs. Medicines and medical supplies serving the examination and treatment of patients are guaranteed according to regulations.
Similarly, the leader of Vinh City General Hospital said that the hospital currently does not lack health insurance drugs; necessary medicines and medical supplies are guaranteed to serve medical examination and treatment.
Previously, on August 27, 2026, the Nghe An Department of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 5091 on implementing the plan to purchase and supply drugs in the province.
According to the Nghe An Department of Health, for drugs on the list of centralized procurement at the national level, public medical examination and treatment facilities shall purchase according to the guidance, announcement of contractor selection results and directing documents of the National Center for Centralized Drug Purchasing, ensuring compliance with regulations and drug supply progress.
For drugs not on the list of centralized procurement at the national level, medical examination and treatment facilities must proactively establish needs, develop plans and organize the selection of drug procurement contractors according to the provisions of law, in accordance with the needs of use, funding sources and the actual situation of each unit.
The Department of Health requests units to promptly implement solutions to ensure sufficient drugs to serve medical examination and treatment, and not to let drug shortages or supply disruptions occur.
For commune-level health stations, while the reorganization of the health station system is not completed, the Department of Health requests to continue supplying medicine according to the current mechanism. The unit currently supplying medicine to the health station is responsible for ensuring medicine is sufficient, timely and continuous.
The Nghe An Department of Health also stipulates that the heads of units are responsible for ensuring sufficient drug supply to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment. In case of difficulties and obstacles beyond their authority, units must promptly report to the Department of Health for guidance and resolution.
