On the morning of September 23rd in Aichi-Nagoya (Japan), Vietnamese male karate players participated in the team kata (performance) event.
This is the final event of the Vietnamese karate team at ASIAD 20.
At the end of the competition, 3 players Giang Viet Anh, Pham Minh Duc, Pham Truong Giang of the Vietnamese men's kata team lost 2-3 to the Malaysian team in the bronze medal match.
So we did not win a medal in this event.
The Vietnamese karate team will return home on the morning of September 24.
At ASIAD 20, the whole team only participated in 7 events (individual kata for men, women; team kata for men, women; 60kg for men; 67kg for men; 68kg for women).
Vietnamese karate athletes excellently won the first gold medal at ASIAD 20 in the women's team kata event.
In addition, we have an additional women's individual kata bronze medal of martial artist Bui Ngoc Nhi and a women's 68kg bronze medal of Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly.
Karate at ASIAD 20 closed after the competition day on September 23.
Before participating in ASIAD 20, the Vietnamese karate team set a goal to win a gold medal and completed the task.
In the 19th ASIAD, Vietnamese karate athletes won 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 2 bronze medals. At Aichi-Nagoya (Japan), the successful defense of the gold medal in the women's team kata event of the Vietnamese karate team was highly appreciated by the Vietnamese Sports Delegation for the preparation efforts of the coaching staff and athletes.
