On the morning of May 26, Dr. Chu Trong Trang - Director of Nghe An Center for Disease Control (CDC) - said that from the beginning of 2025 to now, Nghe An province has recorded 72 cases positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in 7 localities including Vinh City, Yen Thanh, Nam Dan, Nghia Dan, Nghi Loc, Anh Son and Quynh Luu.
All cases had mild symptoms, no complications and no deaths were recorded.
In response to the COVID-19 epidemic in some countries, Nghe An Health sector has proactively reactivated preventive and control measures. Medical facilities across the province are required to review and supplement admission, treatment and prevention plans to ensure flexible response capability when situations arise.
At Nghe An General Hospital, the Center for Tropical Diseases has developed a plan to receive and treat COVID-19 patients. The Examination Department strengthens screening, communication of disease prevention and infection control throughout the hospital.
In the border area, the Ky Son District Medical Center has prepared isolation areas and monitored epidemics for cases returning from Laos through border gates or trails and openings.
CDC Nghe An is regularly updating the domestic and foreign epidemic situation to promptly advise the Department of Health. Epidemic monitoring work has been tightened from the community to border gates and medical facilities, in order to detect early, handle thoroughly, and prevent outbreaks," Mr. Trang emphasized.
Nghe An Department of Health has also issued a document requesting all public and private health facilities in the area to urgently review and supplement the epidemic prevention and control plan; at the same time, fully prepare facilities, equipment, medicines and organize infection control.
Previously, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) requested health departments and hospitals nationwide to update their COVID-19 admission and treatment plans; prepare isolation areas in hospitals (can be 12 rooms depending on reality), to protect patients with underlying diseases, undergoing surgery or being treated for serious illnesses.
The Ministry of Health continues to closely monitor the developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, ready to issue new recommendations if there are variants that cause rapid spread or severe illness.
