Causes of nasal congestion
According to Dr. Vijay Bhalla - consultant at Fortis Hospital, nasal congestion occurs when the nasal passages are partially or completely clogged. This condition is often caused by swelling of the nasal mucosa, making it difficult to circulate air and leading to symptoms such as runny nose and runny nose.
The cause of nasal congestion can come from many different factors, including:
nasal polyps: Benign tumors in the nose can clog the nasal passages.
Disoriented nasal discharge: Causes congestion on one or both sides of the nose.
Exposure to cold or dry air: Can irritate the nasal mucosa.
Hormonal changes: This is the case during pregnancy or other hormonal disorders.
viral infections: Especially the common cold.
Use some medications to treat high blood pressure.
Why does nasal congestion cause headaches and dizziness?
Headache: When the nose is stuffy, the drainage holes of the tubes, especially the forehead and cheek Tubes, are blocked. This prevents the secretion from leaking in the fallopian tubes, leading to fluid accumulation and pressure, causing headaches, often hours of grinding or severe pain.
nasal congestion also affects the wardines, a tube connecting the nose and middle ear, which helps maintain pressure balance. When the wardines become clogged due to swollen nasal mucosa, the pressure in the middle ear changes and can cause dizziness.
Dizziness: Although less common, it can occur when the nose is stuffy, causing clogged eardrums, affecting the pressure regulation between the inner and outer ears, leading to a feeling of dizziness.
Other signs of sinusitis
A headache accompanied by nasal congestion is often a sign of sinusitis. Typical symptoms of sinusitis include:
Pressure around the eyes, forehead and nose.
A prolonged cough.
The mucus is thick and can be green or yellow.
Full or stuffed ears.
Feeling tired and lifeless.
Rear nasal congestion has an unpleasant or bitter taste in the throat.
How to reduce symptoms of nasal congestion, headaches and dizziness
To reduce nasal congestion, headaches and dizziness, Dr. Bhalla recommends the following measures:

Steaming: Using hot steam helps clear your nose.
Drink enough water: Increasing fluids helps dilute mucus.
Nose clearing and anti- histamine: Helps reduce nasal congestion, but not overuse.
