On August 8, news from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee just approved the Project "Consolidating and improving the capacity of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Preventive Medicine System in the period 2026-2030, vision to 2045".
The project aims to consolidate and improve the capacity of the preventive health system in a modern direction, gradually shifting the thinking from "healing" to "prevention", putting people at the center.
By 2030, Khanh Hoa strives for 100% of health facilities to report infectious diseases electronically; outbreaks are treated in less than 24 hours; the rate of expanded immunization is maintained at 90-95%.
In addition, 100% of commune-level health stations will implement household health management on the electronic dossier platform.
Health quarantine work is also targeted to be carried out for 100% of people and goods through border gates, seaports and Cam Ranh International Airport.
To achieve the above goals, Khanh Hoa focuses on accelerating the progress of putting the new headquarters of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) into operation in the period 2026-2027; modernizing medical equipment at the grassroots level.
The province also orients to strengthen the application of artificial intelligence and big data in disease forecasting and management, thereby improving the ability to proactively prevent and respond to community health risks.
The project, after being promulgated, has received the expectation of the people, especially in the context of increasingly concerned disease prevention work.
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - a resident of Nam Nha Trang ward, shifting the focus from "treatment" to "prevention" is a practical direction, because if prevention work is done well, people can be more proactive in protecting their health, while reducing the risk of disease spreading widely in the community.
Setting a target of 100% of commune-level health stations managing household health on the electronic dossier platform is also expected to help people's health care work be more convenient and proactive.
When health information is fully managed, people can be monitored regularly, detect early risks and have timely handling directions.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet - a resident of Nha Trang ward said that a point that people are particularly interested in is the goal of handling the outbreak in less than 24 hours.
According to people's expectations, to make this goal a reality, the grassroots health system needs to have enough human resources, equipment and rapid coordination when disease risks appear.
People believe that, besides investing in facilities and technology, the important thing is that the objectives of the Project need to be implemented synchronously to the grassroots level.
When preventive medicine is truly close to the people, proactively preventing diseases and managing health regularly, people will be the ones who directly benefit from these changes.
