Patient G.T.S (female) has suffered from a frontal maxillofacial tumor for the past 15 years, her face is seriously deformed and greatly affects her life. The tumor was discovered at the age of 7, but due to difficult family economic conditions, the patient was not examined and treated promptly. The tumor started at the frontal peak, gradually developing and spreading to the face, encroaching on the left eyelid and causing facial deformities. In mid-August 2025, with support from benefactors, the patient was admitted to Binh Duong General Hospital.
Clinical examination showed a tumor measuring about 25 × 35 cm, fixed to the skull, immobile, with the skin covering the skin with chronic inflammation. Imaging tests including CT-Scan and MRI, combined with pathological pathology, determined that this was a benign but overgrowth frontal cranial cartilage, leading to serious deformities.
Recognizing this as a complicated case, Binh Duong General Hospital has organized interdisciplinary consultations to find the best and safest treatment direction, including: Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedic Surgery, Eye, Hematology, Anesthesia and Resuscitation and Nutrition. Main and preventive treatment plans are established to ensure absolute safety, treatment goals include thoroughly removing tumors, preserving maximum function, ensuring aesthetics...
The surgery was performed on the morning of August 28, 2025, with the participation of 6 surgeons and 3 anesthesiologists. The surgery lasted 7 hours, including the steps: removing the damaged skin layer on the outside of the tumor, revealing and removing the bone tumor to the scalp, reconstructing the left eye cavity, and using a Limberg flap topical skin tarpaulin to cover the surgical site. The entire process is effectively controlled without blood transfusion, in accordance with the patient's preferences.
After 3 days of surgery, the patient recovered well: was alert, had stable vital signs, was able to move gently and maintained a adequate nutrition. Tests are within safety limits. The patient's facial muscles have improved significantly, completely removing the giant tumor, contributing to improving confidence and quality of life after 15 years of endurance.
