On January 12, information from Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital said that the hospital had just transferred patient T.T.H (55 years old, residing in Thanh Sen ward, Ha Tinh province) to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) for further treatment due to very severe prognosis.
Previously, on the morning of January 10, patient H was taken by his family to Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment in a state of fever, headache, blurred speech, and many subcutaneous bleeding spots in the arms, legs and abdomen.
The patient was tested with a monitoring diagnosis of septicemia that did not rule out streptococcus suis infection.
After consultation, the patient was placed by doctors with a tracheostomy, mechanical ventilation, using vasopressure. However, the patient then fell into acute kidney failure, critical condition, with very severe prognosis, so he was transferred to a higher level.
According to family members, Mr. H has a history of hepatitis B and regularly takes medication for treatment. 10 days ago, Mr. H went to a restaurant in the area to eat goat blood pudding.
About 5 days later, Mr. H showed symptoms of fever, headache, and dizziness. Relatives suspected that the goat blood pudding that Mr. H ate might have been mixed with pig blood pudding.
