On December 22, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) held a conference to deploy a number of regulations and professional guidance on nutritional activities in hospitals in Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Departments of Health of 16 provinces and cities from Quang Tri to Ca Mau; representatives of 16 hospitals and institutes under the Ministry of Health, schools and professional associations; representatives of units under the Departments of Health of localities.
Dr. Duong Huy Luong - Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management - affirmed the important role of nutrition in treatment. This is considered a major treatment method, helping to increase the effectiveness of other methods, helping the body recover quickly, boost immunity, reduce complications, and shorten hospital stay.
According to Dr. Luong, the Ministry of Health has identified nutrition in treatment as the patient's drug dose, and nutritionists are as important as doctors in medicine. To thereby perfect the legal and professional corridor for this field through the issuance of many important documents to standardize human resources, clearly defining titles, expertise, clinical nutrition technical procedures, etc.
Recently, the Clinical Nutrition Technical Procedure was issued by the Ministry of Health for the first time in the technical list of the health sector, proving that clinical nutrition is an inevitable part of treating diseases for patients.
"Distinguishing and thoroughly grasping technical processes; at the same time, preparing human resources, facilities, and building professional documents to implement clinical nutrition techniques at the hospital will aim at sustainable development of the clinical nutrition industry nationwide," said Dr. Luong.
The conference disseminated policies related to nutritional activities at the hospital; important knowledge on dietary allowance for keto for people with resistant amenorrhea, clinical nutritional techniques, nutritional regimens for patients with digestive diseases, etc.
