On February 10, news from the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that from February 7 to now, avian flu has occurred in hamlet 1, Cam Xuyen commune, Ha Tinh province.
The sample test results of the Sub-Department of Crop Production and Livestock under the Ha Tinh Department of Agriculture and Environment showed positive results for H5N1 virus.
Up to this point, in hamlet 1, Cam Xuyen commune, 27/123 households have sick, dead, and destroyed poultry. The total number of sick and dead poultry has been destroyed 902. Including 872 chickens and 30 ducks.
Immediately after receiving information that there was a phenomenon of sick and dead poultry in hamlet 1, Cam Xuyen commune, CDC Ha Tinh was present in the locality to implement measures to prevent and control avian flu H5N1 that may spread to humans.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of Ha Tinh CDC said that people in contact with sick poultry need to be monitored daily so that when there are signs of fever, cough, chest pain, and shortness of breath, they must immediately go to a medical facility for advice, examination and timely treatment.
To promptly treat the environment, Ha Tinh CDC has also provided Cam Xuyen commune with 100 kg of Cloramin B to carry out disinfection at households in hamlet 1.
To proactively prevent flu from spreading from poultry to humans, Ha Tinh CDC recommends that people implement the following measures well:
Do not eat sick or dead poultry and poultry products of unknown origin; do not eat blood pudding, ensure eating cooked food, drinking boiled water; wash hands with soap before eating.
Do not slaughter, transport, or trade poultry and poultry products of unknown origin; limit contact, slaughtering, or eating wild animals, especially birds.
When sick or dead poultry is detected, absolutely do not slaughter or use them, but immediately notify the local authorities and veterinary units in the area.
Poultry farmers, traders, transporters and slaughterers must strictly comply with regular disease prevention measures.
Encourage wearing masks when entering live poultry markets or live poultry trading areas; wash hands with soap after contacting poultry or after entering the market.
When there are flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, go to a medical facility immediately for advice, examination and timely treatment.
