According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, diabetes is a medical condition that is greatly affected by diet, especially sweet, sugary foods. There are many recipes to help patients adjust their diet.
"Diet" method
With this method, users only need a plate with a diameter of about 20 cm - equivalent to an adult hand job. The entire portion is divided into 3 parts according to the ratio:
Half a plate is non-starchy vegetables such as cabbage, kale, lettuce, eggplant, cabbage, kohlrabi, broccoli, bristles, venom, spinach, okra, okra, asparagus, cucumber, radish, green beans. This is a source of essential fiber and micronutrients, which help create a feeling of fullness for a long time.
A quarter of a plate is for foods rich in protein such as chicken, beef, pork, fish, eggs or plant protein sources such as tofu, beans of all kinds.
The remaining quarter is starch or foods containing natural sugars such as rice, noodles, potatoes, fruits or a glass of unsweetened milk.
Meals will be served with water to aid digestion and avoid adding calories to sugary drinks.
"Hand-to-hand" method
If there is no available plate for determination, users can apply the "Hand-fighting" method - the method of estimating portion sizes based on the size of the individual palms:
Fiber (fiber, tubers): Phosphate with both palms.
Starch or fruit: With one hand.
Protein (meat, fish, eggs):equivalent to a palm.
Fat ( butter, oil): About a thumb.
Drink: Add 200ml of unsweetened milk.
This is a convenient method, easy to apply when eating out or under the condition of no measuring devices.
Note, prioritize healthy fats such as fish fat or oil from nuts (such as olive oil, canola oil) over animal fat.
Limit salt intake to the maximum, not exceeding 2.3 grams per day. Avoid the habit of dipping in salt, soy sauce, and fish sauce when eating.
Do not use soft drinks, candy or processed foods that are high in sugar.
Sub place sweeteners can be used instead of sugar in processing, but still need to be used controls.
