The Da Nang Department of Health has issued a document responding to voters' opinions on drug bidding and the use of hospital beds at public health facilities in the area.
Previously, people reported that some hospitals lacked treatment drugs, forcing patients to buy them outside, and at the same time recorded the phenomenon of transplantation in some departments.
According to the Department of Health, the total number of hospital beds in Da Nang city as of the end of 2023 is 9,400 planned beds (excluding 392 actual hospital beds at Commune and Ward Health Stations).
The current hospital bed rate per 10,000 people is 74.8 beds/10,000 people (with the population of Da Nang city in 2023 estimated at 1,257,211 people), this rate is 2.12 times higher than the national average (35 hospital beds/10,000 people).
The situation of two patients having to sleep in the same bed sometimes occurs temporarily in some hospitals, especially during peak times such as the epidemic season or when the number of inpatients increases dramatically.
The main reason is that the number of patients in some departments exceeds the capacity to receive compared to the number of beds approved in the health insurance plan, putting pressure on the treatment reception system. However, this is only a temporary response measure, applied in a short time and not lasting more than 24 hours.
Hospitals have proactively implemented many solutions such as using emergency beds and flexible patient transfers between departments to ensure that patients are provided with separate beds as soon as possible.
