On May 18, information from Gia Lai General Hospital said that Mr. Duy (born in 1985), residing on Ly Nam De Street, Pleiku City, suffered a shoulder tear and a neck injury.
His daughter, Dang Tran Ly Ly (born in 2016), suffered a broken thigh and has undergone surgery and is currently recovering.
Previously, at 1:30 p.m. on May 17, while playing in the yard, Ly Ly unfortunately fell into a well deeper than 30 meters. Immediately, Mr. Duy jumped into the well to save his child. However, during that process, he was hit hard and suffered multiple injuries.

Sharing after the incident, Mr. Duy said: About 30 minutes after falling, the oxygen in the well began to dry up. Both my daughter and I fell into a state of drowsiness and were no longer alert. In the moment of danger, I tried to hold my child and sit on his neck and encouraged him to breathe evenly to maintain his life.
At the well mouth, Mr. Dang Le Anh Du (born in 1996) - Mr. Duy's younger brother - and many other people tried to save the father and son. However, due to deep wells, scarce air and darkness, all initial efforts were unsuccessful.
The family later contacted the authorities and the hospital. While waiting for rescue, relatives used a large plastic tube and a fan to blow the air into the well, making it easier for the father and son to breathe.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Gia Lai Provincial Police quickly dispatched a rescue vehicle and 17 officers and soldiers to the scene.
Through the survey, the well is about 35m deep, of which the water level is about 1m deep. Both victims are still alive but are in a state of panic and show signs of lack of oxygen due to toxic gas in the well.
The rescue team then used a loudspeaker to reassure the victim and released many air tanks into the well.
A rescue team equipped with a safety mask and flashlights approached and brought the father and son out of the well safely at 10:25 p.m. the same day. Immediately, the victim was handed over to the medical force for first aid and treatment.
