The Da Nang Health Sector said that the Minister of Health has just signed Decision No. 3704/QD-BYT (December 2, 2025) to award the "For People's Health" Medal to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh in Hoi An, Da Nang City. This is a noble recognition from the health sector for the woman who bravely donated part of her liver to save her husband's life - Mr. Le Ngoc Hiep, in a historic organ transplant at Da Nang Hospital.

This legendary story in real life began from the days when Mr. Hiep fell into despair while being treated in Ho Chi Minh City. Exhausted health, pessimistic spirit, he once thought he had little time left. However, when he returned to his hometown and put his trust in Da Nang Hospital, his hope of survival was rekindled. With the dedicated advice of the Board of Directors and the medical team, along with his wife's companionship and helpless sacrifice, Mr. Hiep decided to have a liver transplant right in Da Nang.
The major surgery on October 3, 2025 was a great success. This is one of the first two liver transplants performed at Da Nang Hospital, marking a major turning point in the expertise of regional medicine.

In a thank you letter written after the discharge date - October 23, 2025, Mr. Hiep emotionally shared: "Da Nang Hospital is where I was born a second time". He engraved each worried look of the doctor through the resuscitation room glass, each hand of dedicated care of the nurses during the 2 months of treatment.
Currently, the health of both husband and wife has recovered very well. In his hometown of Hoi An, the family's chicken restaurant caught fire again.
The success of this liver transplant not only affirms the level of Da Nang Hospital but also opens up great opportunities and confidence for people in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Now, seriously ill patients can completely hope for a revival right in their homeland without having to go far.
