The Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center said that the event "Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange for the 21st time" will take place with a series of rich international cultural exchange activities, serving people and tourists on Christmas 2025 and welcoming the New Year 2026.
Initiated in 2003, the event has gone through 20 editions, becoming a typical annual activity connecting the friendship between Vietnam and Japan. Thereby, Hoi An continues to affirm its role as a global creative heritage city, towards sustainable development in the integration process.


This year's event was directed by the People's Committee of Da Nang City; chaired by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city, in coordination with the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang. The Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center and many Japanese organizations and individuals participated in supporting. Notably, the program took place in the context of Hoi An Ancient Town becoming a part of Da Nang city, opening up more opportunities for cultural cooperation with Japanese partners.
The opening ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. on December 26 at An Hoi Monument Garden, with the participation of delegates, artists, artisans and many visitors.
During the three days, visitors can participate in many special activities performed by artists from both countries: Traditional Japanese Doll Exhibition, Traditional Sakai Trileries, recreating the Cong Nu Ngoc Hoa - Araki Sotaro Trillary Drum Performance, exchanging street art, traditional art, Cosplay, performing Japanese calligraphy and tea ceremony.
In addition, the spaces introducing Vietnamese and Japanese culture and tourism at An Hoi Monument Garden, Japanese Cultural Exhibition House, Merchants' Ceramics Museum and relics in the old quarter will bring many new experiences. Regular programs such as Vietnam - Japan Bonsai art exchange, "Japanese Antiquities" tour, display of cultural exchange photos, experience " Hizen Ceramics - storytelling paintings", along with food stalls, folk games and free gifts create a vibrant festival atmosphere.

With a history of more than 400 years of Vietnam - Japan trade, Hoi An used to be a bustling international trading port and today still retains the value of the World Cultural Heritage. The 21st event continues to affirm the cooperation efforts between Hoi An, Da Nang and Japan, contributing to promoting culture, promoting tourism and spreading the image of a friendly and creative Hoi An, always welcoming friends from all over the world.
