On March 3, information from the Center for Disease Control of Thai Nguyen province said that by the end of February, the number of influenza cases in the area tended to increase.
Accordingly, in February 2025, the whole province recorded 2,015 cases of influenza, double that of January. In the first 2 months of the year, the number of influenza cases reached 3,060 cases, including 2 severe cases being treated at Hospital A. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of influenza cases increased by 1,717 cases.
Notably, the number of influenza A cases may actually be higher than the statistics, because many people buy medicine to treat themselves at home instead of going to medical facilities.
Currently, hospitals in the area are still receiving many patients for flu treatment, partly due to the humid weather creating favorable conditions for the virus that causes respiratory infections to spread widely.
In this situation, the health sector of Thai Nguyen province recommends that people proactively take preventive measures such as wearing masks, personal hygiene, limiting close contact with people with flu symptoms to protect their health and the community.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), seasonal flu has a serious impact globally with about 1 billion infections per year, of which 1 million cases have serious complications. In Vietnam, flu epidemics often break out in winter and spring, especially in March
