The valedictorian of the 2025 Hanoi Medical University Boarding Doctor Exam has chosen the Obstetrics and Gynecology major - one of the two hottest majors.

Boarding doctor review time is only for study and study

The valedictorian of the 2025 Hanoi Medical University Boarding Doctor Exam is the new doctor Vu Ngoc Duy, 24 years old (from Phu Tho, old Vinh Phuc province) - a former student of Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, who was directly admitted to the medical industry with the second prize for national excellent student in Mathematics.

On the afternoon of September 9, at the most anticipated inpatient registration section, Vu Ngoc Duy was the first person in the medical industry to be named.

After 6 years of pursuing a medical degree at Hanoi Medical University, Ngoc Duy graduated with an excellent medical degree, with an average score of 8.11/10. This school year, the whole school only has 46/more than 1,070 graduates classified as good this time, not excellent.

In addition, Ngoc Duy also won 7/12 semesters of scholarships from Hanoi Medical University.

After completing the study program, Ngoc Duy immediately registered for the school's resident doctor recruitment exam.

In the exam known as the "most severe" of medical school students held in mid-August, Duy became the valedictorian of the exam with 25.09/30 points, leading the "competition" of nearly 1,000 candidates.

In 30 seconds of choosing the major, Ngoc Duy loudly shouted: "Vu Ngoc Duy, order number 01, majored in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hanoi Medical University". The whole hall behind applauded and cheered congratulations.

At first, I was hesitant between the oncology and obstetrics and gynecology major, but decided to choose obstetrics and gynecology because I felt it was suitable for this working environment since I was still in clinical school.

Ngoc Duy said that studying medicine for the past 6 years has not been too stressful, but it is important to start early from the 2nd, 3rd, to the 6th year when facing a large amount of knowledge will be easier.

From the second semester of the 5th year, Ngoc Duy has officially focused on reviewing for the inpatient doctor exam. Morning study in the hospital, afternoon study theory in the classroom, evening review at home.

In the final years, he reviewed for the subjects at school and set a target of one subject per week for the boarding exam.

The resident doctor exam has 3 main exams with 8 subjects. The first exam is the general general exam (combining many basic subjects), the second exam is the professional exam 1 (internal and pediatric), the third exam is the professional exam 2 ( external and maternal).

"Inpatient treatment time is only for studying and learning. In the morning, go to class at 7am until 10:30pm, have lunch and dinner at school. You can study 13 hours a day in the classroom, and when you come home at night, you can shower and continue studying," Duy said.

The valedictorian of the inpatient medical examination at Hanoi Medical University shared that becoming the valedictorian of the inpatient medical examination is a joy and luck. "In the next 3 years of school, I will try to accumulate a lot of knowledge, step through the journey that not everyone will reach the finish line" - Duy confided.

Proud of outstanding students

I am very proud that this year Obstetrics and Gynecology Obstetrics and Gynecology continues to be the top choice of talented and promising young doctors - Dr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Director of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Hanoi Medical University, proudly spoke about his students.

Of the 426 boarding targets this year for 987 candidates, the Obstetrics - Gynecology major with only 15 targets (the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Hanoi Medical University takes 13 targets, Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health takes 2 targets), is one of the "hot spots", attracting the attention of many excellent students. "They chose Sange, not only because of the "hot" industry, but because they have listened to the call from their hearts" - Professor Anh said.

According to Professor Anh, these are excellent faces - some are the main valedictorians, some are the children of a mother who had surpassed life and death in the delivery room and then dreamed of being in the position of a doctor at that time. Each person carries a story, but shares the same ideal: accompanying life, protecting the health of women and small living things in the most fragile moment of life.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is a special major because it not only requires extensive knowledge and sophisticated clinical skills, but also requires a strong spirit and a humane heart.

The fact that the most excellent students choose this major is a testament to a generation of young doctors who are not only good at their profession, but also full of responsibility and courage. They do not choose an easy path, but choose a path worthy of the trust that society has given them.

I am not only proud, but also see the future of the Obstetrics and Gynecology industry The department is in the hands of young people with capacity, heart and the desire to truly contribute - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Anh shared with emotion.
