At a press conference providing information on socio-economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of May 14, Mr. Le Minh Hai - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety - said that during the summer and Q3/2026, the unit will focus on 2 main task groups: communication and inspection.
In communication work, the unit focuses on groups at high risk or needing to be updated with knowledge about food safety.
For management officials in wards and communes, the unit will continue to guide new legal regulations related to goods quality management, inspection and food poisoning prevention so that grassroots management forces can update processes and regulations in state management of food safety.

For export processing zones and industrial parks that organize their own kitchens and ready-to-eat establishments, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety will coordinate with the Management Board of Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks and local authorities to deploy propaganda and disseminate laws on food safety.
In addition, in the third quarter and the preparation phase for the new school year, the unit continues to guide schools on food safety assurance, from selecting ingredients, handling food poisoning situations to stabilizing semi-boarding meals for students. At the same time, promptly encourage and share difficulties with families with children with collective poisoning if they occur. This activity will be closely coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and local authorities.
Mr. Hai added that the management of street food has now been decentralized to wards and communes. However, with the role of advising agency for the City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety will continue to develop programs and guidelines for localities to effectively implement state management, ensuring that food safety incidents do not occur.
Regarding inspection and supervision work, the unit will focus on ensuring food safety at locations where the graduation exam and entrance exams at all levels take place according to the city's plan. At the same time, strengthen inspection of entertainment venues with large crowds during the summer.
According to Mr. Hai, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety will clearly assign responsibilities between departments and localities in inspection and supervision. At the same time, coordinate with businesses at amusement parks in the direction of proactively committing to ensuring food safety for people and children participating in summer activities.
