On December 16, Bach Mai Hospital officially opened and put into synchronous operation the leading modern medical equipment system in Vietnam in the fields of diagnostic imaging, testing, oncology, resuscitation - anesthesia, genetics and many other spearhead specialties.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of the Hospital - said: The capital to invest in these devices comes from the increased budget revenue in 2021, assigned by the National Assembly and the Government, approved from the end of 2024 and required to be fully disbursed in 2025. From a budget of about 1,000 billion VND, the Hospital has purchased and put into operation more than 1,500 modern medical equipment focusing on key areas: Super-dissolving imaging diagnosis, high-precision radiotherapy for cancer, smart anesthesia for resuscitation, genetic arrangement, comprehensive breast cancer screening, and many other specialties.

Notable are the photon NAEOTOM Alpha CT counting system, which helps to take photosensitization, reduce radiation doses and optical barrier drugs; accelerator radiotherapy systems, SPECT/SPECT-CT targeting on the tumor; genetic arrangement giai phapment equipment and genetic testing for diagnosis, treatment and screening of diseases from the early stage.
"This is the first time in many years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, Bach Mai Hospital has been invested in such a large amount of money. Previously, many equipment were equipped in the form of joint ventures and associations. After the epidemic, the hospital encountered many difficulties in terms of mechanisms, policies and lack of equipment. Thanks to timely proposals to the Ministry of Health and the Government, capital has been invested quickly.
The National Assembly, the Government and the Ministry of Health have removed obstacles in procurement and bidding, helping us implement a public and transparent bidding package to purchase modern equipment at reasonable prices. We hope that the authorities will continue to conduct post-inspections to ensure operations within the legal framework, effectively serving medical examination and treatment" - Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co said.
Dr. Vu Manh Ha, Permanent Deputy Minister of Health, assessed the operation of more than 1,500 modern medical equipment as an important step forward, helping people have fair access to high-tech services, reducing the burden on the health system and costs for patients.
The Deputy Minister suggested that Bach Mai Hospital effectively and safely exploit the equipment system, promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence and build a smart hospital, with patients as the center.
Regarding the second facility in Ninh Binh, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co said: "We have prepared high-quality human resources with more than 600 rotating staff from the first facility and more than 100 newly graduated residents, who have been well trained in expertise, processes and working culture before going to the second facility".
Infrastructure and equipment at facility 2 are invested in a modern, synchronous, and equal manner, even many systems are newer than facility 1. The final steps such as installing machinery, quality inspection, and fire prevention and fighting acceptance are being completed.
The leaders of Bach Mai Hospital affirmed: "We are committed to using this modern resource and equipment most effectively, best serving the work of health care for the people, while training, scientific research and transferring techniques to medical facilities nationwide".
