The fierce thunderstorm on the afternoon of March 29 in Nghia Lo ward (Lao Cai province) came unexpectedly as a harsh test. While many people were still rushing to find shelter, Ms. Luong Thi Tinh (born in 1979, urban environmental worker) was still diligently collecting garbage and broken branches on central roads.
In a moment of life and death, she discovered a large ancient tree branch cracking and breaking, about to fall right when two students passed by. Without thinking, she rushed forward and pulled the two students out of the dangerous area.
Thanks to being rescued in time, the two students escaped by a hair's breadth. But immediately after that, a fallen tree branch fell down, crushing the female worker.

From Nghia Lo, she was taken to the emergency room in a state of severe multiple injuries, then urgently transferred overnight to Hanoi. Doctors determined that she had a ruptured small intestine, a fractured pelvis, severe blood loss, had to be transfused continuously and underwent a complex surgery.
On the night of March 30, a delegation from the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation came to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital to visit, encourage and support Ms. Luong Thi Tinh's family.

Ms. Vuong Thi Anh - Chairwoman of Nghia Lo Ward Trade Union - said that Ms. Tinh's family situation is extremely difficult. Her husband died early 11 years ago, since then she has become the sole breadwinner of the family, raising 2 children to study.
With an environmental worker's salary of about 5 million VND/month, to have extra income, she works as a house cleaner for rent whenever she has time.
“Some days I work from morning until late at night to come home, but she is always cheerful, saying to try a little more so that her children are less miserable” - a colleague of Ms. Tinh recounted.

People around Tong Phong neighborhood, Nghia Lo ward all know that Ms. Tinh is a hardworking woman, lives sincerely, and often helps others. When there are common tasks of the residential group, she is always present, without hesitation.
Mr. Phan Huy Cuong - Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - shared: "We will continue to direct grassroots trade unions to pay attention to and support Ms. Tinh's family both materially and spiritually, to soon overcome the difficult period.
However, the journey of medical treatment is still long, Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union calls on organizations, individuals, philanthropists and readers near and far to join hands to support female workers to overcome the dangerous period.

A hand given today not only helps a family overcome adversity, but also spreads the belief that kindness will not be forgotten and those who have bravely stood up for others will not be alone on the journey to regain life.
