After many days of treatment with her child in Hanoi, for the past 2 days, Ms. Le Thi Thu Phuong has taken her child, Le Viet Minh (14 years old), home. "When the child was better, the doctor let him go home for outpatient treatment, but this afternoon he had a fever again" - Ms. Phuong confided.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Phuong is a single mother, with her son Le Viet Minh. Since childhood, Minh has suffered from a very rare immunodeficiency disease due to a TRNT1 gene mutation. Instead of playing around like his friends, Minh's whole childhood was associated with persistent fevers, IV fluids, and hospitalizations. So many times his child was sick, had a high fever, are so many worries and concerns of a young mother. Many times during the working shift, hearing the news that her child had a fever, Ms. Phuong rushed back and forth to put her child in the hospital. Feeling sorry for his mother, Minh, although sick and tired, is still very strong, always trying to endure to reassure his mother.
Ms. Phuong shared that recently, Minh's condition has deteriorated. His immune system, which is already weak, often faces prolonged fevers of 39-40 degrees Celsius, causing his child to be tired and refuse to eat. For more than 2 months now, Minh has had to take a break from school to treat his illness. Every day reading the teacher's messages in the class group, or watching TV and seeing pictures of his peers, Minh asks his mother "When will I be able to go to school again?", making Ms. Phuong choked up.

Currently, Minh is being treated with antibiotics and Immunoglobulin (IVIG) infusion to help her child overcome the dangerous stage. The cost of each test and treatment is up to tens of millions of VND. According to Ms. Phuong, doctors also prescribed stem cell transplantation so that her child can become a healthy normal child. However, the estimated cost is about 1.6 billion VND, far exceeding Ms. Phuong and her family's ability. "Looking at my child lying in the hospital bed, as a mother, I only wish I could bear all the pain for my child. I really hope to receive help from everyone, even just a small help, for my family, it is also a ray of hope for my child to continue living and fighting illness" - Ms. Phuong choked up.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Bui Thi Hong Lien - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Maple Co., Ltd. (VSIP Industrial Park) said that Ms. Le Thi Thu Phuong is a worker with special circumstances. Ms. Phuong herself is also often sick and raises a sick child alone. Understanding and sharing Ms. Phuong's situation, city-level trade unions have paid attention such as supporting funds to build Trade Union Shelter houses, giving gifts, and subsidies for holidays and Tet... Recently, the company's Trade Union also shared Ms. Phuong's situation so that officials, employees of the whole company as well as the social community would know and join hands to help Ms. Phuong and her children overcome difficult times, and give Le Viet Minh the opportunity to go to school.
