The situation of Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong's family (residing in hamlet 1, Yen Truong commune, Thanh Hoa province) makes many people feel sorry. As a worker at a leather shoe company in Thanh Hoa province with an income of about 7 million VND/month.
Her husband, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, is disabled and cannot work. Her family is one of the families in particularly difficult circumstances in the locality. As the main breadwinner in the family, in recent years, she has been single-handedly supporting her husband and taking care of 3 young children to study.
Ms. Phuong shared that her family's already difficult situation has become even more difficult when her first son Nguyen Duc Huy, born in 2011, was diagnosed with stage 3 muscle tumor, which had metastasized to the lungs.
Since the disease was discovered, Huy has often had to be hospitalized for treatment. The cost of medicine, travel and living makes the already difficult family even more exhausted. He often has to be hospitalized for long-term treatment, the family's economy is difficult, and she herself is also having to quit her job to go to the hospital to take care of her child.
“Every expense depends on the meager worker's salary, now adding money for treatment for the child, the family almost has no ability to manage. Currently, the child is being treated at K Hospital in Hanoi with costs of up to hundreds of millions of VND, this is an amount of money that my husband and I have saved up for a lifetime, probably not enough for a part,” Ms. Phuong said sadly.
Not only facing economic difficulties, her family's daily life is also facing many difficulties and obstacles. Two young daughters, one 8 years old in 3rd grade, one 6 years old in 1st grade, have had to become independent early.
Every day, the two children walk to school and come home to cook rice themselves. The distance of about 6km from home to school became a familiar journey for the two children when their mother went to the hospital to take care of their older brother, and their father was weak and bedridden.
Faced with this special situation, Ms. Phuong and Mr. Phuoc's family really need the joint help of the community to have more conditions to treat their child. Each sharing is a great source of encouragement, adding hope for the family to overcome the difficult period, so that Huy has more opportunities to continue living and growing up in the loving arms, not being left behind.
