In Chiet Bi village, Huong Thuy ward, Hue city, the life of Mr. Le Quang Truong's family (born in 1982) and Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy's family (born in 1987) in recent years has almost only revolved around hospitals, medicine and piles of debts.
Mr. Truong and Ms. Thuy's family has three children, of which the youngest is Le Hoang An Nhien (born in 2018) who unfortunately suffered from particularly severe cerebral palsy. At the same time, Mr. Truong - the main breadwinner of the family, also suffered from the disease, and his health seriously declined after two spinal surgeries.
Previously, Mr. Truong worked as a worker with a stable income. However, herniated disc disease caused him to undergo two consecutive surgeries at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital.
The first surgery and medicine cost nearly 30 million VND. More than a year later, the disease relapsed, and Mr. Truong continued to undergo the second surgery. According to the doctor's instructions, he had to replace the artificial cushion and cast spinal screws. However, these supplies were not on the insurance coverage list, forcing the family to fend for more than 35 million VND to buy artificial cushions and screws.
After surgery, Mr. Truong's health is no longer as before, and he can hardly handle heavy jobs. Currently, he can only do light seasonal jobs, doing whatever anyone hires him to do, with an income of about 5 million VND/month.
Meanwhile, Ms. Thuy works as a hired saleswoman with an income of about 100,000 VND/day. The small income of the couple has to bear all living expenses and treatment costs for her child.
Ms. Thuy recounted that when baby An Nhien was 8 months old, she suddenly had a high fever and was taken to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment. At that time, the baby was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and had to be in intensive care for 3 days.
After being discharged from the hospital, the family began to notice abnormal signs in their child. The baby became smaller and smaller, slower and no longer as agile as his peers.
At first, the doctor said that the child was still young and could not be intervened deeply. But as he grew older, the child became weaker and weaker, and the body became smaller and smaller, so I continued to take my child to the doctor," Ms. Thuy recounted.
After many examinations and treatments, the family was heartbroken when they received the conclusion that An Nhien had particularly severe cerebral palsy.
Since then, the journey of treating her child has become too heavy a burden for the family. Although hospitalization costs are supported by insurance, the cost of medicine outside the list and physical therapy is still a very large amount of money.
For three physical therapy courses alone, the family had to spend nearly 35 million VND. Not to mention the money to hire people to perform rehabilitation for the child, about 20 million VND. Those amounts of money were all borrowed from banks, relatives and relatives on both sides. However, the relatives' circumstances are also difficult, so they can only provide some support.

Seeing her child lying in one place, her eyes bewildered but unable to do normal things like other children, Ms. Thuy quietly wiped away tears many times.
My husband and I just hope our child can get better little by little. No matter how hard it is, we try, but now we really don't have the ability to manage anymore," Ms. Thuy said choked up.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Truong Hoang Bao, Head of Chiet Bi village, Huong Thuy commune, Hue City, said that Mr. Truong's family is in difficult circumstances in the locality, and for many years has had to bear the burden of illness and life.
According to Mr. Bao, for many years, the family has continuously encountered upheavals, the economy has been exhausted because her husband is seriously ill, and her youngest daughter has cerebral palsy. "I hope philanthropists will join hands to help so that the family has more conditions to treat An Nhien," Mr. Bao shared.
