Pediatric patient Duong Chi Binh (born in 2025, currently in Kim Dai 1 village, Doai Phuong commune, Hanoi city), is being actively treated at the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department, Hanoi Children's Hospital. On November 19, 2025, Chi Binh was transferred to Hanoi Children's Hospital in critical condition with a diagnosis of septic shock, multiple organ failure, severe pulmonary hypertension, severe pneumonia, enlarged heart disease with malnutrition and was monitored for metabolic disorders. Doctors assessed this as a serious case, with complicated developments and a long treatment process.
Chi Binh is the youngest child in the family, born in the 37th week with a weight of 2.5kg. All of the child's previous childbirth expenses at the Kim Boi Medical Center, Phu Tho province were covered by the couple's small savings. When the child had to be hospitalized for emergency care, the family only received an advance payment of 1 million VND for the hospital fee, while the cost of intensive care treatment was large and increasing day by day.
Because his mother was blocked by a milk radius after giving birth, Binh was not allowed to breastfeed but had to use formula, each box cost about 520,000 VND and needed three boxes per month. The child also has to use diapers every day, causing the cost of nutrition and care to be far beyond the family's ability.
It is known that Binh's family situation is particularly difficult. Her mother is of the Muong ethnic group, and her main job is housework. Since her child was hospitalized, she has had to be on duty regularly at the hospital to take care of her child, so she has no income. The father works as a manual labor worker at a private workshop in the suburbs of Hanoi, with an unstable income of less than 7 million VND/month and no health insurance. Currently, all expenses in the family depend on this small source of income, while the cost of her child's treatment is far beyond her ability to pay.
In addition to Chi Binh, the family has a baby girl born in 2024, currently sent to her grandmother to take care of so that her mother can focus on taking care of Binh at the hospital. The foreigners are old, have poor health, and have relatives living far away, so direct support is very limited. In the context of mounting difficulties, the child's parents were almost exhausted when having to cover the cost of treating their child every day.
In response to the child's health and the family's urgent circumstances, the Social Working Group, Hanoi Children's Hospital said that it had confirmed the information about the case of patient Duong Chi Binh and hoped to receive the attention and sharing from the community. Each contribution is a valuable source of encouragement, adding hope for the child to continue treatment, maintain the opportunity to live and recover.
