Timely sharing with union members and workers in flooded areas
On the afternoon of December 2, a working group of Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor led by Mr. Cao Nguyen Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, visited Thai Hoa, Nghia Dan and Hai Chau communes to present support to union members and workers affected by the recent flood. These are localities that are heavily affected by rising water levels, causing widespread flooding, sweeping away many properties of people and workers.
According to the review of the Provincial Federation of Labor, the flood in 2025 has caused many workers to lose their property, their houses to be damaged, their means of work and daily life to be swept away or deeply flooded and cannot be repaired. In that situation, the Golden Heart Social Support Fund decided to allocate 50 million VND to provide emergency support to union members and workers.
The support is divided according to the level of damage: 2 million VND/household for cases of flooded houses; 5 million VND/person for cases of collapsed houses or injured workers requiring treatment; 10 million VND/household for cases of death. After reviewing, the Provincial Federation of Labor approved support for 22 cases, including 2 people receiving 5 million VND and 20 people receiving 2 million VND.
The gifts were presented at the Trade Union of TH Milk Company and Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction and Export Joint Stock Company, two units with many workers suffering great losses. The presence of the working group and timely support created warmth for workers after many days of struggling to cope with natural disasters.
Ms. Hoang Thi Nguyen, a worker at Nghe An Bridge and Road Investment and Expansion Joint Stock Company, recounted that her house was completely flooded, all appliances such as washing machines, motorbikes, refrigerators; poultry, and trees were damaged. "With the current income, it will take my family a long time to recover. The gift from the Union really warms my heart, said Ms. Nguyen.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoang - a worker at TH Milk Company - said that the water was half the house, causing damage to many essential items.
"The Trade Union has always cared for and accompanied us for many years. Receiving support in difficult times helps us have more motivation to continue working," said Mr. Hoang.
Spreading from the Trade Union Shelter program
According to statistics, since the beginning of the year, Nghe An Trade Union has donated nearly 700 million VND to support union members affected by natural disasters and floods, helping workers reduce their burden and soon stabilize their lives. In parallel with flood support activities, Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor also allocated 50 million VND from the Trade Union Social Activities Fund to build a Trade Union Shelter for Ms. Pham Thi Nguyet - a worker at Wooin Vina Company Limited, under the Hai Chau Commune Trade Union.
As a worker in difficult circumstances and living in a dilapidated house for many years, Ms. Nguyet said that this support is the "greatest gift" she has received in the year.
Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor Cao Nguyen Hung said that the Trade Union Shelter program has become one of the typical social security marks of Nghe An Trade Union. Over the years, hundreds of union members in difficult circumstances have been supported to build or repair houses, helping them stabilize their housing and have a support to develop their lives.
Caring activities from the Golden Heart Social Support Fund, the Trade Union Social Fund and the Trade Union Shelter Fund act as a "lifebuoy" for workers. Support does not only stop at reducing the immediate financial burden but also creates a sense of security and confidence in the support of the Trade Union.
