After missing 2 Grand Slam tournaments in the summer, Carlos Alcaraz will return to defend his title at the US Open.

US Open – the last Grand Slam tournament in 2026 for world tennis, officially announced the registered list for 2 men's and women's singles events.

The top tennis players competing in New York will include world No. 1 tennis players Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner. Among them, Sabalenka aims to become the first female tennis player to win the US Open women's singles 3 consecutive times since Serena Williams (2012-2014).

Following them are world No. 2 Elena Rybakina (reigning Australian Open champion) and Alexander Zverev (Roland Garros 2026 champion).

Defending men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz is expected to seek his third US Open title in his career. Alcaraz has missed both Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year. He will come to New York as the No. 3 seed.

While US Open 2024 women's singles runner-up, Jessica Pegula, is the highest ranked US player (both in the men's and women's rankings) with 3rd place in the world.

The initial list included 17 former Grand Slam singles champions (11 women, 6 men), including 10 former US Open champions.

Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic - who reached the Australian Open final and Wimbledon semi-finals this season - tops the list of the most successful tennis players with 24 Grand Slam singles titles, including 4 trophies in New York.

The United States is the leading country with 28 players (14 females and 14 males) winning tickets straight to the main round.

In addition to Pegula, the hopes of US women's tennis are placed on No. 4 Coco Gauff and No. 9 Amanda Anisimova. Meanwhile, the men's tennis team includes faces in the Top 10, Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.

The above names have all advanced deeply in the tournament in New York in recent years: Gauff is the champion in 2023, while Anisimova (2025), Fritz (2024) and Pegula (2024) have all reached the final. Shelton's best achievement is reaching the semi-finals in 2023.

A total of 8 players (5 females, 3 males) use special rankings or defend their rankings, including Lois Boisson (No. 38), Shang Juncheng (No. 56), Irina-Camelia Begu (No. 82) and Thanasi Kokkinakis (No. 84).

The registration list for men's and women's singles in the main round is based on the rankings on July 20. The ranking limit for the women's tournament is 102 and the men's tournament is 101.

US Open 2026 will take place from August 23 to September 13, in which, the main round of singles events will start from Sunday, August 30.
