For the first time, Vietnam is the host of the Billie Jean King Cup 2025 international women's tennis tournament. The Vietnam Tennis Federation announced on October 23 that the 3 players who won the official spot to participate in the Vietnam Women's Team participating in the tournament are Nguyen Thi Mai Linh (Hanoi), Ngo Hong Hanh (Army) and Phan Diem Quynh (Army).
The Vietnam women's tennis team will award 2 more official spots from the selection round held from October 27 to 29 at the Military Region 7 Sports Center (HCMC).
The players on the list of selected rounds include Dao Uyen My (HCMC), Tran Natasha (HCMC), Vu Khanh Phuong (HCMC), Le Thao Han (Army), Nguyen Thi Phuong (Hanoi), Dang Thi Hanh (Hai Phong) and Nguyen Thi Mai Huong (Hai Phong).
According to the Vietnam Tennis Federation, the two players who won a spot from the qualifying round will be in 4th and 5th place in the Vietnam Women's Tennis Team.
As soon as the Vietnam Tennis Federation announced the above list, the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Department said that the selection of athletes to participate was unjustified.
At the same time, the players of Ho Chi Minh City were not convincingly removed from the list of the first 3 official positions of the Vietnam Women's Tennis Team.
Therefore, it is expected that the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training and Competition Center will send a document to the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Tennis Federation on the issue of selecting personnel for the Women's Tennis Team.
The Billie Jean King Cup 2025 International Women's Tennis Tournament will be held in Phan Thiet (Lam Dong) from November 10 to 15.
The 10 teams will send athletes to compete including Laos, Maldives, Guam, Macau (China), Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Bhutan, Bahrain, Jordan and host Vietnam.
