This technology competition organized by Huawei has just ended in Shenzhen, China. With this victory, the Vietnamese student team will participate in the global finals in 2025. In addition, they will also receive startup funding opportunities, participate in an experience trip to China and participate in “1:1” discussions with Huawei leaders.
The Vietnamese team consisted of 6 students from 4 Vietnamese universities: Mai Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang and Dinh Hoang Anh (Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology); Pham Quynh Trang (VinUni University); Cao Sy Duong (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), and Tran Dang Nam (Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport).
To participate in the Tech4Good Asia-Pacific competition, 2 months before, you must pass 2 rounds of the program "Seeds for the Future - Seeds for the Future 2024". First is the preliminary round with the participation of more than 400 students, then study and compete with 40 talented students to achieve the highest academic score and qualify for international competition.
At the Tech4Good Asia-Pacific round, 6 Vietnamese students continued to compete with 24 teams of outstanding technology talents from 24 other countries in the region. After 2 consecutive rounds, the Vietnamese team won convincingly with the SkyNet project rich in applications and an impressive presentation, based on the practical context of super typhoon Yagi that just caused 2 billion USD in damage to the Vietnamese economy.
The SkyNet project is developed based on the application of drones, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and AI technology to support faster and smarter search and rescue of victims in flooded areas. The project is developed with the criteria: High-resolution image acquisition, stable mobile data transmission and real-time data reporting. The cost of developing SkyNet is also optimally calculated to bring economic benefits and diverse application scenarios when commercialized to the market.
Mr. Macky Zhang - General Director of Huawei Vietnam - expressed his joy when 6 Vietnamese students won the absolute victory in this year's regional competition: "The Tech4Good competition is part of the long-term program 'Seeds for the Future' launched by Huawei globally, aiming to create a playground for young talents to propose technological solutions to solve social problems.
We are very proud that the 6 Vietnamese ‘seeds’ have won the top position in the group, proving their individual abilities through the impressive SkyNet project and inspiring other young talents to actively transform creative ideas into national practices. The exciting global final stage is waiting for you to show and shine even brighter.”
