Atlas directly integrates ChatGPT into the browser interface, allowing users to chat and receive support right when surfing the web, without having to move tabs or copy content between windows. When choosing a text box, users will see a ChatGPT icon appear so that they can request suggestions, edits or rewrite a content section.
In addition to the command bar that appears when opening a new tab, users can also turn on the sideline to chat with ChatGPT at any time. Atlas has the ability to remember preferences and usage history to support smarter searches.
This storage feature is optional and can manage, delete, or turn on anonymous mode like regular browsers. OpenAI affirmed that users' web browsing data is not used to train AI models in the future.
At the launch, CEO Sam Altman commented: Atlas is a smooth, fast and really easy-to-use browser.
After many months of speculation, OpenAI has officially entered the fiercely competitive browser market, where rivals such as Opera and Perplexity have soon launched AI-powered browsers. Meanwhile, Google is also preparing to deeply integrate Gemini assistant into Chrome.
