According to CNN, three tropical storms appeared at the same time, named Alfred, Rae and Seru.
This is the first time in 4 years that the South Pacific has seen 3 storms together.
The South Pacific is identified from eastern Australia and extends about 8,000 km from the San Ho Sea to the rest of the Pacific.
The most recent time this event occurred was at the intersection between January and February 2021, when three tropical storms bina, Ana and Lucas achieved sustained wind speeds of at least 80 km/h, according to CNN's analysis based on historical data from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
According to the Department of Meteorology of Fiji, the typhoon season in the South Pacific lasts from November to April, with peaks usually falling from January to March.
Initial storm forecasts show that this year's storm season in the South Pacific could be average to below average, largely due to the influence of the La Nina phenomenon.
Up to now, this forecast is still correct as the number of storms is smaller than usual, making the simultaneous appearance of 3 storms noteworthy.

Australia's latest hurricane report on February 26 said Tropical Storm Alfred is likely to head towards Queensland later this week and sweep across one of Australia's most populous coastal areas next week.
Redford is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Category 5 hurricane scale. Senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said a Category 3 storm could cause serious damage, with gusts of up to 220 km/h.

Previously, super typhoon Zelia - the strongest storm to hit the Earth this year - made landfall in Australia on February 14. Zelia is the most serious storm to hit the Pilbara coast of Western Australia since Typhoon Ilsa in April 2023. Typhoon Zelia brought heavy rain and gusts of up to 290 km/h when it made landfall.
Not only the South Pacific, many other regions have also witnessed a significant increase in storms over the past year.
In October last year, three storms appeared in the Atlantic Ocean at the same time, including Kirk and Leslie off the Atlantic, and Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. Milton quickly strengthened into a Category 5 super typhoon, causing heavy damage to both people and property.
Although this year's storm season may not be too strong in terms of total numbers, the continuous occurrence of major storms is still a concern, especially in the context of climate change increasing extreme weather phenomena.
